At the invitation of Kashgar Prefectural Administrative Office, Chairman, Mr. Zhang Baozhong, Vice General Manager, Mr. Wu Chunguo of China Overseas Port Holding Company (COPHC) attended the 12th Kashgar Central and South Asia Commodity Fair and the 2016 China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and Kashgar Forum. The fair and forum was held in Kashgar, an important ancient Silk Road town in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. The topic of the forum was ‘All-Round Opening and Cooperating to Co-Build the Central City of Silk Road Economic Belt in Core Area’, the forum was aimed to explore the cooperation and development among the cities along Silk Road Economic Belt, to build consensus, to put heads together and to promote Kashgar involved deeper into the development of 'One Belt and One Road' and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. The officials of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regions, officials of other cities and provinces, diplomatic envoys of Kyrgyzstan and other the Central Asian nations, Mr. Taseer Hussein, Chief Secretary of Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan, Mr. Bob. Gruber, mayer of Gwadar City and other guests attended the forum and discussed the issues of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

In the keynote speech, Mr. Zhang Baozhong, chairman of COPHC introduced the development， incentives and plans of Gwadar port and Gwadar Free Zone. Kashgar and Gwadar as the important node of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, we should seize the significant opportunities of this development and to realize the striding development. Both sides should deepen their pragmatic economic, trade and investment cooperation, complement each other's advantages, pursue common development and co-create a win-win strategic cooperation and efficient platform to achieve leap development of Silk Road Economic Belt. Mr. Zhang’s speech received warm applause from the audience and active responses from the forum.

In contract signing ceremony, Kashgar of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and Gilgit Baltistan of Pakistan established friendly relations and also established a sister-city relationship with Gwadar City. Kashgar signed a strategic cooperation frame work agreement with China Overseas Port Holding Company.
