13th Nov 2016: Inauguration of Gwadar International Terminal, the shape of daring imagination

13th November marks a day of great significance in economic development of Pakistan. The first export from Gwadar Port; the flagship project of China Pakistan economic corridor occurred and state of the art deep sea port make its mark on the trade routes. Prime Minister and Army Chief, General Raheel Sharif inaugurated the first export vessel from Gwadar.
The trade convoy comprising of 160 containers covered almost 3000 km long distance of CPEC route and reached to its destination Gwadar.
The cargo finally loaded on two vessels berthed on the multipurpose berth at Gwadar port on 12th Nov. the vessels namely ‘COSCO Wallington’ and Al-Hussain which are heading to Columbo and Jable Ali respectively. The cargo was loaded by using port cranes in day and night operations. Currently there are two port cranes which have 40 tons lifting capacity and by the end of this year STS cranes will be installed for ease of operations.
Gwadar Port is equally competent and has all the facilities for the vessels calling to the port. There is extensive storage facility available at the port for container stacking. The strategic position of the port makes it unique and it would be developed as transshipment hub and create more opportunities for people of Gwadar as well as people of Pakistan.
